Preservation Breeding of Lippitt Morgans & Morgan Sport Horses

 

Aliyah Farm is dedicated to the thoughtful breeding and development of Morgan horses rooted in tradition, soundness, and partnership. Our primary focus is the preservation of the traditional Lippitt Morgan — a critically endangered foundation bloodline of the original Morgan horse. Alongside this preservation work, we are carefully developing a small Morgan Sport Horse program that builds upon the Morgan’s intelligence, durability, and willing temperament. Both programs share the same guiding principles: limited, intentional breeding; structural correctness; longevity; and horses meant to be enjoyed — whether in harness, under saddle, on the trail, or in sport.

With fewer than an estimated 2,000 Lippitts worldwide — and far fewer of active breeding age — preservation requires careful stewardship. At Aliyah Farm, we approach each breeding decision with attention to genetic diversity, traditional type, and long-term soundness.

Historically valued as family horses, working partners, and athletes, Lippitts remain usable well into their upper 20s and are especially suited for individuals who value partnership and reliability.

Our Breeding Philosophy

 

Aliyah Farm is not a volume breeding program.

We breed selectively and intentionally — usually one, occasionally two foals — with careful attention to:

• Lowering inbreeding coefficients

• Preserving traditional working type

• Maintaining temperament and structural integrity

• Supporting long-term genetic diversity within the bloodline

In a breed population where linebreeding has been common, we believe genetic stewardship is essential to long-term preservation.

Our goal is not simply to produce foals — but to contribute responsibly to the future of the Lippitt Morgan.
