Aliyah Heavenly Sunshine's

Aggregate Genetic Representation (AGR)
Justin Morgan (“Figure”)

25.55%

For a horse born more than two centuries after Figure (1769–1821), this represents a substantial genetic connection to the original foundation of the Morgan breed.

Pedigree & Genetic Significance

Aliyah Heavenly Sunshine represents a meaningful concentration of traditional Lippitt bloodlines. She carries one of the strongest aggregate genetic representations (AGR) of Justin Morgan, also known as Figure, within the Lippitt Morgan population. Her pedigree reflects a deep connection to the foundational type and historic character of the early Morgan horse. While we approach such statistics with humility and respect for the broader breeding community, Sunshine’s genetic profile makes her an important contributor within a preservation-focused program.

Early History

Sunshine was born on a bright Colorado spring morning, a fitting beginning for a filly whose presence immediately felt special.

She was produced from frozen semen carefully selected several years prior, and we were fortunate that the single successful AI dose resulted in her conception. The remaining stored semen was later lost, making Sunshine a particularly valued outcome of that breeding decision.

Development & Training

Sunshine has matured into a balanced, thoughtful mare and has recently begun her under-saddle training. She is currently being ridden and is developing steadily with attention to correct foundation and long-term soundness. She demonstrates the willing temperament, intelligence, and steadiness characteristic of the Lippitt Morgan.

Production

Sunshine is the dam of Drifter, her first foal.

As with all of our mares, breeding decisions involving Sunshine are made carefully, with attention to:

  • Structural compatibility

  • Temperament

  • Inbreeding coefficient management

  • Long-term genetic stewardship

Her value within our program extends beyond individual traits — she represents continuity of traditional Lippitt type and historic lineage.

Sunshine is sired by Equinox Beaubrook, a stallion recognized for both historical influence and performance versatility within the Morgan breed.

Equinox Beaubrook was:

  • Grand Champion Stallion at the Lippitt Country Show (1984, 1985)

  • Named USEF Top Sire of Driving Horses (All Breeds) in 2009 and 2010

He demonstrated versatility across English, Western, and Driving disciplines and sired progeny successful in endurance, competitive trail, dressage, and jumping.

Within the Lippitt community, Equinox Beaubrook is also regarded for consistently producing kind, willing, and trainable offspring — qualities that remain central to our preservation goals.

For those wishing to explore his broader influence, he is featured in The Morgan Horse:

Z Halcyon April is a full Lippitt mare known for her loyalty, stamina, and steady disposition. She has been a dependable trail partner with the classic Morgan “go anywhere” attitude — forward, capable, and confident in varied terrain.

April carries a strong working heritage. She is a daughter of SANDROCK JOEL, himself a son of EDGEWOOD HALLMARK, both recognized for ranch soundness and traditional Morgan type. Her pedigree is further influenced by ROYALTON ASHBROOK DARLING and ASHBROOK, the latter noted by A.F. Phillips as exemplifying the old-style Morgan — still carrying a significant concentration of Figure’s blood more than a century after his passing. April has consistently demonstrated attentive maternal instincts and has produced quality offspring reflective of her structural strength and temperament. Her 2018 filly, Aliyah Heavenly Crescendo (by C-My Doc Holiday), is now residing in California.
